The things we do to occupy time...

Monday was a random school holiday, so we searched for random projects to fight the boredom. We found paint. I even painted a Z. All three kids painted on their own without any help. They chose colors and then changed their mind and changed the colors and then changed their mind again. I think in the end, their "projects" turned out awesome.
I am sure that teachers need a day to prepare and get ready for the upcoming weeks, but come on...

Cowboy Cody Hits the Trail

Every year the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Trailriders travel past Cody's preschool. The kids get dressed up in their western garb and sit on blankets and watch the riders go by. It is a huge procession - miles and miles of horses and cows and covered wagons (okay, there are a few trucks and ghetto blasters blasting western tunes) and the kids absolutely eat it up. The animals are so close you can smell the horses and cows. We have been talking about the trailriders for a month. And to top it off, no western day is complete without a picnic of pigs in a blanket and marshmellows.

I love Texas!!

Hiyah!!!!

With one more advancement behind him, Alex has advanced to second level Camo belt - Lion level. He is so good! During the testing his teacher even acknowledged that he can do his forms and one steps without a helper. That is a huge accomplishment and says volumes about his dedication to acheiving his black belt. At the end of the ceremony, Mrs. Frentz called up one student from each belt and gave them a special pin that signifies a student that pays attention and behaves well. Alex received that pin and was just beaming. Maybe I should try giving out pins at home!!! This testing was a special one because Grandma was there for the first time. Grandma's rock!
